via Gondogoro La
This is my third book in the series of image based stories on some of the most beautifull trekking trips, I have done.
The trek up the Baltoro glacier to K2 basecamp in the Northeastern part of Pakistan is one of the most strenuous treks in the world, and if you combine it with the crossing of the Gondogoro La it will take you to an altitude of 5585 meters.
Nevertheless, the trek is worth every bit of effort, as the views are magnificent, and the route takes you from desert, via green valleys, up one of the biggest glaciers outside the poles, and last but not least to the foot of the famous K2, the second highest mountain in the world.
The book is meant as inspiration and/or as a memory to those, who has done this fantastic trek. It is no real guidebook although it contains descriptions of many of the days, maps of the route, and a list and diagram of the trek. Furthermore, there is good advice from an experienced trekker and mountaineer as to how to go about this trek, and the acclimatization necessary to complete it safely.
It is richly illustrated in photographs by the author. All images are shot vintage style on analog cameras during several separate occasions.
The book can be obtained here from Amazon UK, here from Amazon US (March 21st 2022, not available yet), and here directly from the publisher Books on Demand.
